Who We Are ....

Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy is a homeschool cooperative that provides enrichment classes to students in the Rockdale,Newton and surrounding counties. We meet once a week on Tuesday's for 33 weeks per year. Our main focus is to provide science classes with lab experience for K4-12th grade. Our program has grown over the years to include a total of 30 different classes. Please see our Course Catalog for more information.

Through Paragon Academy we offer an accreditation program for those homeschool families who wish to have an accredited transcript upon graduation

Our History

Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy began in the fall of 2001, offering two classes (Biology and General Science) for approximately twenty five students from Rockdale and Newton Counties at Covington Praise Center in Covington, Georgia. The next year the co-op expanded to offer ten classes for students in P.E.A.R.L. Home Educators. The program became PEARL Cooperative Learning Academy. At the time of its inception it was a co-op in every sense of the word with families getting together and teaching each other’s children.

In 2004, the PEARL Cooperative Learning Academy became Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy. The word paragon means “a model of excellence” and has roots in a Greek word meaning “spherical pearl”.

Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy began an optional accreditation program in 2005. We moved to our current location at Salem United Methodist Church in November 2005. In 2006, our accreditation program became Paragon Academy and PA earned full accreditation with the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Today we offer more than forty classes for approximately two hundred students. We have seen tremendous growth and give all of the honor and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Mission Statement

The mission of Paragon Cooperative Learning Academy is to provide high quality classes to the homeschool community. It is the goal of PCLA to supplement, enrich, and support what is being taught in the home and not replace the home educating parent. We seek to provide homeschooling students with classroom opportunities that are taught in a Christian environment by qualified teachers. It is our desire to see the Lord glorified in all that we say and all that we do in and through PCLA.

Character Counts

All PCLA enrichment classes are taught from a Biblical worldview. PCLA families are required to agree with the PCLA Statement of faith. PCLA students are also expected to behave in a Christ-like manner in their relationships with fellow students, faculty and staff, in addition to abiding by an honor code and a non-corporal discipline policy. There is also a realistic dress code for the PCLA program. Each parent and student is required to sign a commitment form stating that they will represent Christ in all they do at PCLA. We have a no tolerance policy for misconduct from students.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes His complete and final revelation to man.

We believe the Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details.

We believe in one God that has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh being fully God and fully man, except without sin.

We believe that all men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act, and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation.

We believe that the central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection.

We believe that salvation is to individual faith, not trusting in any person’s works whatsoever, but the sacrificial death of Jesus alone.

We believe that the institution of marriage between man and woman, as established in Genesis Chapter 2, was ordained by God Himself

PCLA admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin. PCLA does not discriminate on the bases of race, color or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or any other
PCLA administered programs. However, we reserve our right to hold our beliefs as Christians. PCLA is a Christian organization. PCLA will operate by Christian standards and teach classes from a Christian point of view. All Board of Directors, faculty, staff, and families must agree to and sign
the Statement of Faith.
